FEBRUARY
FAVS

my very first mp3 player

everyone is constantly up my arse about what music i listen to bc they want to like the stuff i like bc apparently “i‘m cool and whatever i like is automatically cool.” which like, awe. i wouldn’t say that but i see what you’re saying.

i’ve compiled a list of my current february favs. you’re gonna laugh, heck maybe you’ll even cry. then, at the end of the article after you’ve played every single song from start to finish, you’re going to come out a changed person and will be dming me for next month’s playlist. patience is a virtue — trust. i know, i know i spoil you guys rotten. no need to thank me because i have fun doing this.

1. ribs by lorde

we’re starting off strong here with a classic. if you follow me on instagram (@lethernews) you know that i’ve been listening to this song on repeat lately. it’s the saddest song with such an upbeat tune. it makes me think of me when i was 16 and laughed until my ribs got tough but, like lorde said, that will never be enough...

will forever be screaming “i want it back i want it back the minds we had the minds we had” until my vocal chords shred.

2. end of beginning by djo

i know what you’re thinking — “ziggy, everyone and their mothers are listening to this song.” here’s what i have to say about that: yes, and ?

3. chanel by becky g and peso pluma

now, i include the video in here bc it just captures the perfect vibe of the song. also becky g is ... really nice to look at. the sound is like mariachi but make it pop. also, the hen is, like, the star of the show. i think she got more camera time than becky g herself.

4. the maze by anthony willis

lmaoooo. okay, so this song is featured in Saltburn during a really sad part. at 1:22 you hear this simple, yet gut-wrenching series of notes that make you feel like when you realize you posted something on your personal instagram that was meant for your close friends and it’s been up for an hour #relatable.

5. passionfruit by drake

this song is so very addicting. tbh i don’t listen to words and i just like how things sound and the beat just does something to my brain that scientists can’t explain (okay maybe it’s endorphins.)

6. stop calling the police on me by dreamer isioma

there’s just something about the way this artist sings the words “gorilla glue” that itches my brain in the best way. it’s a fun and fresh sound. the whole music video is of them hanging out with their friends and reminds me of when i was young once.

7. tummy hurts by reneé rapp and coco jones

“TRUUEEEE” i scream from the rooftops bc this song is just so, yes. i’m going to let you all in on a little secret. i. love. beautiful. talented. women. (it’s not very secret bc i’m oh so very vocal about it.) watching this video mesmerizes me and then once you add sparkles into the mix, it’s over.

8. ghost in the machine by sza ft. phoebe bridgers

this song appeared during a certain time in my life and i’m so thankful for that. dare i say that this might be the best song on the album.

9. boyfriend by ariana grande and social house

“hello... ? yes, 2019 ? it’s me, ziggy. i’m just calling to say that i want u back.” also can we talk about her baby blue matte eyeshadow look ? i’ve been obsessed with it for 5 years and counting.

10. saoko by rosalía
